Congress of Tough Riders A First At This Year’s Old West Festival

The new Cowboy Capital Corral at the 2010 Old West Festival will be christened by the Congress of Tough Riders, featuring three of Ohio’s finest rodeo drill teams – Ohio Top Hands, Renegade Cowgirls and Buckeye Cowgirls. The Old West Festival runs weekends from September 11-October 10.

JOIN THE OLD WEST FESTIVAL AS AN ARTISAN/CRAFTER

This year The Old West Festival is reaching out to increase the artisans and crafters that join the family fun event.  For 2010 there will be two options for artisans/crafters to assist in a tough economy.

The first is a traditional fee per weekend option with discounts for demonstrating and length of stay.  The new option is gathering a lot of interest, and that is a percentage option.  The vendor simply pays a percentage of their gross sales.

The 2010 dates for The Old West Festival are September 11, 12,18,19,25,26, October 2,3 and 9,10.  As in the past there is all day entertainment, gunfights, can-can dancing, melodrama, medicine show, period music, food and vendors.

Ohio Clothesline of Quilts Trail
Ohio Clothesline of Quilts Trail created by National GeographicGive Donna Sue Groves credit for this tribute to her mother, which began with a painted quilt square on the family farm's barn in Manchester. Now more than twenty barns in Adams County are decorated, each with a different pattern, creating a quilt sampler that honors this Appalachian tradition. Travel on state routes and side roads through five counties to find more of the Pinwheel, Lemoyne Stars, Windmill, Hour Glass and other unique pattern designs. The idea-birthed in Ohio-and now spreading across Appalachia and America-created an unexpected surge to preserve the barns on which the squares are painted, while linking the shared heritage of the region. Brown County Quilt Barn Coverlets still available

Brown County Quilt CoverletThe design for the first of two Quilt Barn coverlets has been completed. The design was laid out to have the look of a postcard or a page of snap shots. The barns that are included in this coverlet are the first 10 that were painted. The second one is planned to be ready for the Quilt Barn – Covered Bridge Tour in October. If other barns are painted a third coverlet could be created.

COVERLETS STILL AVAILABLE!
