Ohio Tobacco Museum, Inc. is located at 703 So. Second Street (U.S. Rt. 52) beside the former tobacco warehouses. The two-story brick house is of Federal and Georgian style architecture. This 1850s home was once owned by the Espey family. Mr. Espey worked for Heavy Munition Works in Cincinnati, the company that produced Ripley’s three cannons for protection during the Civil War. The historic home became the site of the Ohio Tobacco Museum in 1988 and stands as the only such museum in the state of Ohio. The contents of the museum have been provided through public and private donations and represent the story of Ripley’s unique southern Ohio agricultural history. |

The trip takes about five minutes, but at most 10 minutes. The ferry runs 364 days per year, 12 hours per day. It is closed on Christmas day and if the wind reaches 30 miles per hour or the river is up the ferry is closed. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. There were over 80 covered bridges in Brown County spanning such picturesque streams as Straight Creek, White Oak Creek, Red Oak Creek and the East Fork of the Little Miami River. Today, five bridges remain as a part of Brown County’s local heritage and history. Three of these are open to vehicular traffic, two are by-passed and open to foot traffic. |

The Mount Oreb Depot, built in 1886 is the oldest building in Mount Orab at the corner of Front and Woodyard Streets. It was closed in the early 1970's. It was donated to the Mount Orab Women's Club and is on the National Register of Historic Places along with a wooden caboose. The train depot is now used for meetings and community activities. |

The John P. Parker House Museum is a National Historic Landmark and was the home of John Parker a former slave, abolitionist, inventor, and businessman. The Rankin House is a State Memorial and a National Historic Landmark that was the home of Rev. John Rankin an anti-slavery leader. This home was an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Views from the house include downtown Ripley and the Ohio River. The Ripley Heritage Board of Trustees has voted on the following changes in Rankin House admission and hours for 2009: Admission: $4 adults, $2 students, children 5-under free.
